1. Project Background: Industrial Power Supply Challenges Under Weak Grids in Eastern Europe

In recent years, industrial development in Eastern Europe has continued to grow. However, the local public grid infrastructure remains outdated, with unstable power supply, large voltage fluctuations, frequent tripping, and unexpected outages. High industrial electricity costs and unstable power quality seriously affect continuous factory production. Manufacturing companies urgently need a commercial and industrial energy storage microgrid system with voltage stabilization, backup power, peak shaving, and multi-energy integration capabilities.

This Eastern European industrial customer customized a 1500KVA, 10MWh large-scale commercial and industrial energy storage project. The customer required a 1500VDC high-voltage DC architecture, and the system had to directly output 400VAC industrial voltage to power factory production loads. This customized non-standard requirement has a very high technical threshold in the energy storage industry.

Currently, mainstream low-voltage PCS solutions in the industry are limited by the 1000VDC technical bottleneck and cannot support 1500VDC high-voltage systems. The customer consulted several leading Chinese energy storage manufacturers in the early stage. Due to the high difficulty of high-voltage architecture compatibility, complex 400VAC direct output logic, and multi-power-source coupling control, many suppliers declined the project.

High-voltage architecture: 1500VDC high-voltage DC energy storage architecture for large-capacity microgrid clusters, reducing transmission losses and improving energy density and load capacity

  Power output: Direct 400VAC industrial standard voltage output without external transformers, supporting heavy industrial loads

  Energy structure: PV solar + diesel generator + grid hybrid microgrid system

  Operating conditions: Designed for weak grids in Eastern Europe with voltage stabilization, frequency control, and seamless on-grid/off-grid switching

  Expansion planning: Initial deployment of a 10MWh microgrid energy storage system with reserved expansion interfaces for future scaling to 15MW–30MWh

  Delivery requirements: One-stop microgrid solution including topology design, hardware integration, system integration, commissioning, and delivery

This 10MWh project is a highly customized industrial microgrid project. Unlike standard backup power systems, the project requires advanced capabilities in multi-energy coupling, on-grid/off-grid switching, weak-grid stabilization, high-voltage technology, power conversion, and system integration.

2. Technical Breakthrough: Self-Developed 690VAC Conversion Solution

To solve the technical challenge between the 1500VDC high-voltage architecture and 400VAC low-voltage direct output, the R&D team at GSL Energy carried out multiple rounds of electrical simulation, topology optimization, and system logic analysis.

Instead of using conventional low-voltage PCS solutions, GSL Energy adopted an innovative 690VAC high-voltage conversion architecture. This solution breaks through the traditional 1000VDC limitation and solves the industry challenge of direct industrial load supply from high-voltage energy storage systems.

    During grid fluctuations or outages, the diesel generator and energy storage system switch automatically within milliseconds to ensure uninterrupted factory production
