juha saarinen: the burning battery question

With Samsung\'s few new flagship devices, the Galaxy Note S7, on fire during charging, Samsung is now experiencing a difficult period.
The fire was caused by some minor faults in lithium.
Ion batteries in the Note 7 device;
Although only a small number of fires have occurred so far, the whole incident is a disaster for Samsung, which has had to recall smartphones worldwide.
Not only that, airlines around the world prohibit people from using Note 7 or charging them on the plane.
Samsung may have to re-name the Note 7 after the spontaneous combustion fiasco and carefully study its battery manufacturing process because of the risk of lithium
The ion battery is really on fire.
If you want to see what the lithium battery looks like when it\'s on fire, there are a lot of videos on YouTube that will tell you.
Don\'t try to poke a hole in the battery, though, or overcharge the battery yourself: burning can be very intense, and there\'s usually a lot of toxic smoke coming out too. While lithium-
Currently, ion batteries are the best compromise between energy storage capacity, size and price, and researchers are working on alternatives
Mainly because of lithium.
Ion batteries are known fire hazards.
If the risk of lithium-
The ion battery has a good record and has been known for many years, and in terms of insurance, where is the consumer who bought the power equipment?
For example, I \'ve been thinking about installing a Tesla Powerwall or Panasonic home battery in order to try it out with solar power and help cut power, which usually happens when I can\'t afford it.
However, both Tesla and Panasonic batteries contain lithium
Ion battery that made me a little nervous.
Perhaps unnecessary: Heath Walker, senior marketing and communications manager at Tesla, pointed me to the Powerwall manual, which outlines emergency procedures for batteries in the event of a fire.
\"Like any device with electricity, there is a possibility of fire, but the design and power supply of Powerwall greatly reduces this risk,\" Walker said . \".
He doesn\'t think home insurance matters, which Chris Lysaght, national technical expert at IAG, confirmed to me.
\"Any household battery-
Installation and Use of these devices as directed by the manufacturer/supplier will not affect personal home insurance, \"said Lysaght.
It is nice to see that the insurance company will provide insurance for the property of the House and others in case of a battery fire, however, if there is a recall, do not be late, return expensive phones like Galaxy Note 7 to the manufacturer.
\"If a mobile phone is on fire, we will not expect it to invalidate the insurance for the fire loss caused by other insurance properties, but the phone itself may not be insured for itselfdestruction.
We hope that most people will accept any vendor/manufacturer\'s offer to address known issues in the event of a recall, \"added Lysaght.
On top of that, if you have any old phones or other devices, the batteries are placed somewhere in the drawer, don\'t risk getting them on fire and taking care of them.
In fact, dealing with batteries can be a challenge.
I\'m not suggesting anyone panic, but lithium-
The disposal of ion batteries needs to be taken seriously.
There are billions of devices with combustible power supplies, and more are manufactured every day.
Unfortunately, no one seems to have considered where they will end once they are no longer available.
