Tesla\'s new battery megafactory set to open

Large factories in Nevada will produce 500,000 batteries a year.
\"It will produce more batteries than all the other factories in the world add up.
The plant will be used to produce batteries for Tesla Model 3 cars.
Tesla\'s gigabit plant in the Nevada desert is nearing completion.
It will open in July 29 and will have the largest building footprint in the world.
The $5 billion structure will produce 500,000 lithium-ion batteries a year to meet demand.
The official invitation sent by Tesla via email, by referring to 4 or more qualified sales, sent an invitation to existing Tesla owners involved in the company\'s fourth referral program.
Lucky owners will visit the new facilities and are expected to show the latest progress of the company\'s Model 3 cars.
Guests will be allowed to test drive and visit the factory before and after \"significant\" at nine o\'clock P. M.
But Tesla did not mention the test-drive vehicles.
The recent drone footage showed us a huge building.
The video shows little progress on the outside of the building, but Tesla seems to have been working in the area around the plant.
Musk said the Geely plant and its Fremont plant will produce more lithium-ion batteries in a year than in 2013.
In terms of size, the number of Geely factories is second only to Boeing\'s aircraft factory in Washington.
But when it comes to how much land it covers, Tesla\'s upcoming plant is the largest in the world.
\"This is a crucial factor,\" Musk said in introducing Model 3 . \".
\"To give you a sense of scale, Geely factory will have the largest floor area in any type of building.
\"In the past our Fremont plant actually produced 500,000 cars a year, so we are confident that Tesla will be able to achieve that in terms of future car production,\" he said . \".
\"I don\'t think I\'m going to say it directly, but it\'s very viable.
But what about the battery?
In order to produce half a million cars a year, we basically need to absorb the lithium production of the whole world, which is the whole reason why we build Gigabit factories.
\"It will produce more lithium-ion batteries than all other factories in the world add up. . .
We will also produce the most advanced batteries in the world.
Musk revealed: \"The Geely factory is now producing battery packs, but it has not yet made batteries in it.
This huge project is part of the billionaire program, which aims to reduce the cost of electric vehicles and create home battery packs to provide cheaper electricity.
Model 3 sells for $35,000 in the US
Half the benchmark price of the 2015 models.
Its lower price tag is mainly due to cheaper battery packs that can be manufactured by gigabit factories.
Tesla previously assembled battery packs with Panasonic batteries made in Japan.
But now, these companies have teamed up to set up factories in Nevada.
The latest video is a video disclosed by Bloomberg last year that shows how construction works are progressing.
Musk said on Twitter at the time that the drone video showed \"not a complete Gigabit factory, but a pilot plant (1/4 size ).
\"On July, an industrial park along Interstate 80, 15 miles east of Sparks, a Reno suburb, began site preparations.
The goal is to produce enough batteries to power 500,000 cars a year when the car is fully completed, and to produce a power supply that can also be installed on gadgets such as toys and drones.
At present, the factory\'s production base is located in Freemont, California, but the factory does not have the ability to meet the company\'s future production needs.
The site will also help produce a $3,000 \"revolutionary\" battery, which Musk claims can run the entire family for eight hours.
Musk introduced Powerwall devices at a news conference in California last year and said the technology could \"change the world \".
Since Tesla unveiled its home battery plan, it says it is already overwhelmed by initial demand and is now exploring whether it can expand battery production.
Last week, Tesla said its production and construction plan for Geely\'s plant in Reno, Nevada, had been advanced.
While Renault has attracted big companies like Apple and Amazon, there are fears that the city\'s infrastructure will not be able to cope with the growth of demand.
However, it has recently been reported that the Nevada battery plant is creating jobs at a slower pace than originally expected, although state officials said satisfactory progress is still being made.
A progress report released last week by Nevada\'s governor\'s office for economic development said 272 people were working at Tesla and Panasonic plants at the end of the year.
This is lower than the 700 jobs initially expected at the end of 2015, according to the September 2014 report provided by state councillors in deciding whether to approve $1.
3 billion tax benefits.
\"In applying to the state for a slaughterhouse, the company improved its forecast for annual job creation to more accurately reflect that the construction of the Gigabit plant will be completed in stages, instead of completing it once as originally predicted by the national economic impact report, Office of Economic Development spokesman Jennifer Cooper said in a statement.
\"While this will be reflected in the company\'s quarterly report to GOED, it will not change the expected investment of at least $3.
5 billion or 6,500 of jobs once the factory reaches full production.
Nevada built the factory after fierce competition in several states.
Economic development officials say the Geely plant has started shipping battery packs and power walls.
Tesla reports that so far it has invested $0. 374 billion in Nevada, down from its early forecast of $1 billion at the end of 2015.
In the last three months of 2015, an average of 894 construction workers per week
