NiMH is the abbreviation for nickel metal hydroxide and LiPO is the abbreviation for lithium polymer.
Both types of batteries are currently used in the electric model RC car scene.
Most models ready to run RC models will include some form of battery
They are usually NiMH varieties to reduce costs.
The RC model scene where the LiPo battery pack powers the model aircraft and helicopters really came --

The current world record speed holder is now powered by LiPo batteries instead of Nimh batteries! Is NimH dead?
This question can be answered as No.
Are they the most powerful battery packs for RC models? . . .
The answer is No.
What matters is what the app needs.
Although cheap fat litters on the market, low cost is still a factor in supporting NimH.
The technology used by Nimh has been around for 20 years.
With this in mind, simple chargers are very easy on budget and most NimH factories produce excellent battery packs with experienced process and quality control.
The security of the NimH battery remains.
The possibility of using Nimh vs. Overcharging causing a fire/explosion is still smallLiPo battery.
The durability of the NiMH battery pack is still there as they can be reduced to close to zero volts, which will destroy the LiPo battery.
Fourth, the almost opposite view is that the NimH battery is heavier and the voltage is lower. . . .
This is a practical advantage for controlled club racing and beginners.
Using the Nimh battery can better drive the \"loose\" off-road track, providing more traction and less power to break the grip of the tire.
Good Nimh battery can still provide the same amount of charge
Discharge cycle as Lipo battery
No special balance charger required by Lipos.
For those who may have recovered their hobbies but still have equipment --
They may choose to still use NiMH batteries.
Overall, it really depends on the budget and the application.
Many amateurs have NimH and LiPO battery packs.
Some people slam with batteries.
Lipos running at full speed-
Or whatever they choose.
As Lipo battery packs are getting cheaper, especially as new hobbyists and lipo friendly devices enter the market, we can guess that Nimh will no longer be the choice for consumers.
Nimh and LiPo battery packs require different care in terms of use, storage and charging.
