II. Project Background: High-Difficulty Complex Microgrid Customization Requirements

The local power grid in South Africa has long suffered from insufficient power supply, frequent load shedding, and repeated power outages. Industrial factory voltage is extremely unstable. In order to reduce dependence on the public grid, the customer clearly required the construction of a complex trinity microgrid system integrating PV solar power + GEN diesel generators + GRID public utility power to achieve intelligent multi-energy complementarity, seamless switching, and uninterrupted power supply.

The biggest technical challenge of this project was that the customer insisted on adopting a 1500VDC high-density high-voltage energy storage architecture, while all on-site industrial loads operated on 400VAC low-voltage electricity. Conventional low-voltage PCS systems in the industry are generally limited by a 1000VDC technical bottleneck and cannot be compatible with high-voltage systems. Cross-level adaptation between high and low voltage, complex multi-energy coupling logic, and difficult microgrid control created extremely high technical barriers. Multiple major domestic energy storage manufacturers evaluated the project as too technically difficult and refused to undertake it.

III. Core Technical Breakthrough: Breaking the Industry High-Voltage Microgrid Technology Barrier

At present, mainstream 400VAC low-voltage PCS systems in the industry generally have a 1000VDC voltage limit and cannot achieve high-density high-voltage energy storage. To solve this industry technical pain point, the GSL R&D team independently developed 690VAC high-voltage conversion technology and adopted a 1500VDC + 690VAC to 400VAC three-level voltage architecture to accurately solve the industry challenge of directly supplying low-voltage industrial loads from high-voltage energy storage systems.

Among similar commercial microgrid solutions, GSL Energy is one of the very few companies in China capable of providing complete customization for this type of high-voltage microgrid and successfully implementing complex microgrid systems combining 1500VDC high-density energy storage with direct 400VAC load output.

IV. Strong Factory Manufacturing Capability and One-Stop Microgrid Integration Delivery

This project featured complex control logic, multiple electrical topology levels, and a very high degree of non-standard customization. VI. Project Summary

The South Africa 750KVA/5MWh project is a high-difficulty complex industrial microgrid project, completely different from ordinary commercial and industrial energy storage systems. With its unique 690VAC high-voltage conversion technology, GSL broke through the industry 1000VDC low-voltage limitation and successfully achieved the combination of 1500VDC high-density energy storage with direct 400VAC industrial load supply while completing the construction of a complex PV/GEN/GRID trinity microgrid system.
