Commercial solar boom underway

The rapid growth of solar energy in New Zealand\'s commercial market began with proof of economic viability, as well as systems that are heavily used nationwide.
Until recently, Yealands wine group had the largest solar panels in New Zealand, providing an amazing 99 KW-Hour Energy for their Marlborough estate.
It is now second only to the solar system of the Palmerston North City Council, which manages 100kWh with four additional panels.
Yealands now plans to expand its array to 186kWh.
Their actions seem competitive, but Yealands is interested in running a business that is environmental and economic.
\"The main motivation for our installation is sustainability.
\"That\'s exactly what we\'re going to do as a company,\" said Michael Wentworth, marketing manager at Yealands. \"Self-
Sufficient power has always been our long-term goal.
We still have some way to go before we can achieve this goal, but in the end this is the key driver.
\"Solar Energy currently offsets the approximately annual power consumption of Yealands Manor.
At present, the number of modules is 398 panels, which is a powerful system whether it is beautiful or practical.
It will take about eight years to pay off.
This is similar to the time when the array renders its own carbon --neutral -
This is not a small feat, especially given the initial manufacturing of the system.
When the larger array is completed, it will provide 30 of the needs of yealands Seaview winery.
On the roof of a building in Fremantle Bay, Auckland, there is a smaller but equally impressive solar panel that houses eco-store retail stores and Lily and Louis PR.
48 solar panels were installed last year, making the building the first ever clean zero-energy commercial building in New Zealand.
Malcolm Rand, founder and owner of Ecostore, said the playground Foundationfor-
The profit arm of his business) drives the project as part of its mission to \"create a healthier, more sustainable world through on\"the-ground action\".
The array and lithium-
Ion battery pack, similar battery pack can also be installed in solar cellspowered homes.
With the addition of the intelligent control system, the battery pack allows the energy extracted from the solar panel to be stored and used when needed, especially during peak demand periods, or in the event of an unexpected power outage in the main grid.
Most importantly, tenants in the building don\'t even have to change their behavior to achieve net zero consumption of energy.
\"We think this investment is commercially viable.
\"The cost of this term solution does not exceed the purchase of the same amount of electricity from the local grid,\" said co-landlord Jon ramachi . \".
South Auckland Forging Engineering Co. , Ltd. (SAFE) located in Drury may not be the type of business you normally expect to take advantage of solar energy.
However, they installed one of the largest solar arrays in New Zealand
In line with the principles of sustainable development and economic vitality.
The management of the safe want to know how they can contain this constant
Increase their energy bills from the grid.
They considered changing to a different supplier of electricity, but found that it would only reduce their energy costs by two cents.
SAFE\'s large-scale operations include heavy forging plants, heat treatment facilities, machine workshops, and metallurgical laboratories.
Despite the inherent high energy usage
SAFE, after conducting research and obtaining a quote, found that installing solar panels would be an effective alternative to extracting all power from the grid.
They now have a 68 KW solar panel made up of 360 photovoltaic panels that account for more than half of their energy usage each year.
If there is excess energy at any time, it can be fed back to the State Grid and sold.
It is expected that the safe solar system will pay for itself within nine years of installation and provide a considerable return.
Cromwell\'s AAA plumbing and drainage system provides yet another major example of sustainable energy being commercially accepted.
Five tenants in a rural area
When Andrew Togh realized that solar panels covering the roof could collect up to 42 KW of the energy, he thought installation was a project worth investing in.
The system now has a significant impact on the electricity bill of the House and is in operation
Track pay yourself in 7. 5 years.
As many businesses across the country have already enjoyed such cost savings, more companies will follow suit.
