Recently, GSL ENERGY has learned that Ukraine and British technology companies have joined forces to launch the “RISE” program, which is intended to raise 100 million euros over the next three years for the construction of 100 commercial photovoltaic and energy storage integration projects in Ukraine.

During the war, Ukraine's regional power supply facilities were severely damaged, and the remaining power grid system is also subject to enormous operational pressure; power outages of more than 10 hours are the norm. For this reason, Ukraine had to import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, and other countries, and the local price of electricity is as high as 6.5 euros / MWh. In this context, industrial and commercial energy storage has become a key means of ensuring power supply and reducing energy costs for Ukrainian enterprises.

According to the data, Ukraine's industrial and commercial user-side energy storage market has an annual installed potential of about 300MW, with a market value of 200 million euros. Although the proportion is still small, with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Ukrainian government's subsidy policy to promote it, it is expected to grow rapidly.

At present, the lithium-ion battery-based battery energy storage system, the initial focus is on industrial and commercial users direct distribution of storage, the future or on the integration of light storage and charging, and microgrid extension.

According to the current electricity price policy in Ukraine, the project can realize at least 700,000 euros per year for the plant's peak and valley arbitrage, with an annualized return of 12%-15% and a shortened payback period of 2.5-3 years.

The GSL-BESS50K120kWh is a Mini C&I ESS system with 50kVA inverters and 120kWh batteries per system, which is easy to install and operate. Marco, the project installer, explains that it took them just four hours from unloading to connecting the system to the grid. “It used to take 3 days to install a 100kWh system, now it's like putting together Lego.” Marco gave a thumbs-up and expressed his satisfaction with the GSL ENERGY operation manual.
