Research and development of British solar unmanned aircraft range up to 90 days, can reach anywhere around the world

Uk-based bridge walter Astigan company is developing a solar unmanned aircraft, its battery life can reach 90 days, and taken out high quality photos. It hovered at a height of 20400 metres above the ground, and then sends the snapshot image to organizations and businesses. The first test of Astigan unmanned aerial vehicle is expected by the end of this year. Astigan uav weighs 150 kg and a wingspan of 40 meters. It can bring a series of interchangeable earth observation instruments, such as high resolution camera, atmospheric monitoring system and multispectral sensors. In addition to military applications, for urban planning, land management, environmental change, even for natural disaster relief are also of great significance.

Astigan general manager Brian Jones, who led the project, participated in the first travel around the world solar energy research and development of the plane. This special plane, he says, has achieved the intended target, all work was a milestone. By the end of 2019, our goal is to complete the endurance test flight, achieve uninterrupted flight as long as 90 days. Astigan the main stakeholders of the ordnance survey, hope will mapping industry to a new realm.
