Salvage Lithium Ion Batteries From Laptop Batteries

I always want to know what\'s inside any device.
Recently, after seeing a video on YouTube, I want to know the battery type inside the laptop battery, which I believe is a video from kipkay, the battery of the old laptop is restored by replacing the lithium ion battery inside.
My good friend\'s laptop battery is not working properly, it\'s too bad, the laptop will even turn off immediately if his power cord is disturbed.
The battery can\'t even be used for a second.
He bought a new one and gave me his old one so that I could satisfy my curiosity and perhaps find some use.
This is my first battery strip, I did not take a photo of the full program, nor did I add any photos I took at the last step, called the first battery strip photo, however, I have another chance to open it.
The laptop battery of another friend and has the full picture (this will show the second battery strip so let\'s start . . . . . . Get the necessary materials and tools to enter the battery material of the laptop: any model of the battery of the laptop can be done (the larger the battery of the laptop, Li-
Ion battery in It) tool: Vise-fixed Batten rotary tool with micro saw blade attachment/Hacksaw/plastic cutter (rotating tool speed is obviously faster)
Protective equipment for nose PlierPersonal: gogglesdisclavel: Lithium
Ion batteries are dangerous and will catch fire if not handled properly.
Take the necessary precautions when dealing with these types of batteries.
When using electric and manual tools, safety precautions should also be followed to avoid harm to yourself or others.
I am not responsible for your safety, be careful about what you are doing, be safe.
First clamp the battery on the vise, or secure the battery in a safe position using any available tools.
Don\'t hold the vise too tight, just hold the battery firmly if it\'s tight enough.
I used a little vise because it was what I had on hand.
I found it easier to wire cut along the two halves of the plastic housing.
Prepare your rotating tool with the saw blade attachment, cut only the plastic case and don\'t go deep as you will cut into the battery, which can cause a fire (I haven\'t cut into the battery yet ).
Go slowly. you should be fine.
If you use a plastic cutter, you may need to cut the plastic multiple times.
(I haven\'t tried it, however, I did try it once with a score blade and I couldn\'t get it by heating the blade and then cutting might help, but then I got the spin tool, things get easier ).
After cutting along the joint, remove from the vise and pry the case open with a flat head screwdriver.
Insert the screwdriver and rotate to open the plastic.
Be careful not to poke Lee-ion cells.
The cell will use double sided tape to stick to the plastic case on one side, and it will fall off as long as the other side of the plastic is pulled apart.
Remove the lid and internal organs of the laptop battery.
You should go to Lee.
Ion battery and control circuit with temperature sensor (not sure type, let me know if any of you know ).
Connect the battery using a metal label welded to the battery.
I tested the battery voltage (10.
23 v), close to the voltage of the working battery (10. 8v).
First, the temperature sensor is separated from the battery by simply opening the adhesive area.
It should fall off easily.
Note: If you are going to replace the battery and restore/upgrade the battery, please note I. e.
, Positive and negative of cells and their direction.
I can\'t guarantee it will work because I don\'t know why this battery is not working well.
So please let me know if you end up replacing the cells.
Then use the side cutter to carefully cut the label/wire connected to the circuit and between the unit.
Note: Don\'t break the cells because it will make the cells useless.
You can leave the metal label if you need it for easy welding.
I don\'t want sharp edges, however, so I decided to remove the tag.
Using a long nose clamp, you can see the picture more clearly by simply rolling the label.
From my first battery strip-
Closed, I rescued 6 cells, 2 of which died and 1 was damaged during extraction.
So I\'m in good shape.
Temperature sensors and a small amount of smd elements on the board.
From the second battery strip-
After closing, I got 3 18650 core and 2 temperature sensors as well as some other smd components from the board.
These cells are not completely depleted, but are discharged within a limited range.
Charge Li with the right chargerion cells.
Note: On my first attempt, I accidentally touched a battery while using the wire stripping device to remove the label from the battery, it hissed for a few seconds,
Check later that the voltage display is not lowered, so I think this is OK. When I used Li-
In order to charge this special battery, it causes the Charger IC to burst, thus ending the life of the charger.
After that, I never charged that battery again.
Note: Be careful when charging.
You take risks yourself.
Do not charge the battery if it is damaged.
Expensive chargers may have protective devices to prevent them from exploding.
However, cheap IC will fall off if the battery is damaged.
Pay attention to polarity when charging.
Currently, I am using the Nitecore i4 charger to charge other batteries and so far (for batteries that are completely dead) it is very good.
I have been using the battery (from my first battery strip) to power my XMLU2 flashlight.
And plans to use it to power the Arduino, and plans to build a solar bank.
The next two are \"mine\" in the future \". P.
S: if it\'s accepted, I \'ve added this in a couple of matches if you like.
Please vote so I can win something and make more money and share. . .
This was the first time I tried to turn on the laptop battery and unfortunately I didn\'t take a photo of all the steps.
So I remember to take a picture the next time I open the full step.
