Novan Water Plant in Yemen Achieves Renewable Energy Transformation with GSL Energy 2MWh Battery Storage System
The Novan Water Plant located in Saada Province, Yemen, has completed a major energy upgrade by transitioning from a traditional diesel generator-based power supply to a renewable energy-powered system.
The project was developed by Hammoud Jarman Brothers Company and integrates 800 high-performance Austa solar panels with a 2MWh GSL Energy high voltage battery energy storage system (BESS), creating a reliable solar-plus-storage microgrid solution for continuous water treatment operations.
As a critical infrastructure facility, the water plant requires stable and uninterrupted electricity to operate essential equipment including water pumps, treatment systems, and automation controls. The integration of solar PV generation and advanced lithium battery storage enables the facility to improve energy reliability, optimize renewable energy utilization, and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.
The GSL Energy battery system adopts advanced LiFePO₄ lithium iron phosphate technology, featuring high safety performance, long cycle life, and a designed service life of up to 28 years. The system has obtained multiple international certifications and is engineered for long-term operation in demanding industrial environments.
Through the combination of:
- 800 × Austa solar panels;
- GSL Energy 2MWh high voltage battery storage system;
- Intelligent energy management technology;
the Novan Water Plant has established a cleaner, more efficient, and more resilient renewable energy infrastructure.
This project demonstrates how industrial battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar microgrid technology can support essential facilities such as:
- Water treatment plants;
- Industrial facilities;
- Agricultural irrigation systems;
- Remote infrastructure projects;
- Renewable energy microgrids.
GSL Energy continues to provide customized high voltage energy storage solutions for global commercial and industrial applications, helping customers achieve safer, smarter, and more sustainable energy management.
